Twisted Aluminium Wire 5 Strands

Twisting wire is a fundamental skill for any animator, but it can be incredibly time-consuming. Our pre-twisted 5-strand 2mm aluminium animation wire takes the hassle out of the build process, allowing you to focus your energy on character design and the animation itself.

Our expertly twisted five strands of high-quality 2mm aluminium animation wire, offers the perfect compromise between malleability and strength. It maintains the easy-to-bend nature of thinner wire while providing the structural integrity of a much heavier-duty gauge.

For maximum durability, we recommend using this wire in conjunction with our 5mm heat shrink tubing. Applying heat shrink to the leg sections is a professional technique we use on all our Aluminium Armatures to prevent wear and add a layer of protection against the rigors of frame-by-frame movement.

We also offer our 2mm wire twisted together in 3 Strand and 7 Strand sizes. Each size is available in the following lengths to suit every part of your puppet:

• 3-Strand (2mm): 8 Metre length – Ideal for smaller puppets, arms, and fingers.

• 5-Strand (2mm): 5 Metre length – Great for legs, spines, and torso support.

• 7-Strand (2mm): 4 Metre length – Maximum strength for heavy puppets or character rigs.
