The Versatile 6cm Core for Character Design

The 60mm polystyrene ball is a favorite for mid-sized puppets and large-scale heads. At 6cm, these spheres are perfectly sized for creating boulders, planetary bodies, or rounded architectural elements. When used inside a puppet, they provide a rigid, lightweight base that bonds perfectly with Milliput and Animation Wire.

When using as a head, Square Brass Tubes can be used to enable the head to easily slot into place. Being able to remove a character's head makes it easier to animate fine details. Using a plasticine, like Chroma Clay with a polyball core is a popular choice for stop motion. You're able to get the plasticine aesthetic whilst reducing weight using this method.
